Friends of the Library Events Set

Happy New Year!

The FRIENDS of the Virginia Public Library wish you the best for 2012!

Mark Your Calendar!

First meeting for 2012 was Tuesday, January 10, at 4:00 p.m. in the library auditorium. The group planned the January 24 Annual Dinner with special guest Jim Weikum, Arrowhead Library System Executive Director (Join the FRIENDS to attend!), who recruited volunteer hosts for the Friendly Fridays, planning our annual Love Your Libary Book Lover's Tea, and more!

“Hot Reads for Cold Nights" is bigger than ever at Virginia Public Library, January - February 2012
When the weather is cold, it’s time to find a hot read and join Virginia Public Library’s annual “Hot Reads for Cold Nights” reading program–sponsored by the FRIENDS of the Virginia Public Library for the past 14 years! Register at the library or online and participate in lifelong reading.

We will be reading "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot.
Our community book discussion will be held as a Brown Bag (at noon) on TUESDAY, April 10.
AND, on Wednesday, April 18 MPR's Kerri Miller will interview author Rebecca Skloot at the DECC in Duluth. We're looking into a bus — detail to be released! Learn more about the book here and here, then grab your library card and use the library's online catalog to order your copy of the book today!

New this year:

Hot Reads Friendly Fridays - January 6, 13, 20, 27 and February 3, 10, 17 and 24
